You've heard of Otzi, the Bronze Age archer frozen in an Alpine Glacier. Did you know that an ancient corpse has been recovered from a North American glacier?
Named "Kwäday Dän Ts'inchí" and estimated to have died 550-600 years ago at about 20 years old, he was found in a glacier in the St Elias Mountains of British Columbia. His intestinal tract was found to be fully preserved, which has allowed a detailed examination of his diet by researchers led by James Dickson of the University of Glascow, whose article was recently published in the Journal "Holocene", vol 14 issue 4.
His tract included pollen and pieces of crustaceans and salmon, and his body biochemistry included isotopes, indicating close ties to the coast and leaving a mystery of why he was in an ice field so far away...
