MN's assist Graduate Study of Prairie Dogs
Mission: Bag this guy before he gets wise.
Several Master Naturalists jumped on an opportunity to help a graduate student develop data for her dissertation earlier this summer by helping trap Gunnison's Prairie Dogs, Cynomys gunnisonii, and take vital statistics.
MN Perry Crampton holds the restraining bag while DMV Dave Washabau gets ready to open the livetrap.
MN Teresa Emig holds a Prairie Dog while Grad Student Jennifer Verdon wants the P-dog repositioned. DMV Dave observes at this point.
MN Bill Emig pins down another P-dog for Jennifer, who is preparing to sample blood or hair. With at least two teams prepping the P-dogs, the critters were stuck in the cages for less time.
Master Naturalists were connected to this project through Master Naturalist Class.
