MN's Assist AZ Fish and Game Fish Survey

Master Naturalists joined Grand Canyon Trust to help Arizona Fish and Game perform a survey of fish species in Stillman Lake, near the headwaters of the Verde River.

About 10 volunteers joined about 10 Fish and Game biologists to inventory native and non-native species in this early phase of restoring this naturally occuring lake near Paulden, AZ. Master Naturalist Teresa Emig is seen in these photos helping to move collecting gear.

Fish and Game has encountered catfish, carp, crayfish, and bullfrogs among the invaders. This agency is trying to assess what measures might be appropriate to minimize these exotic species.
The Grand Canyon Trust paid for overnight accomodations at a very nice Bed and Breakfast called Little Thumb Butte B&B. Participants have been keeping this very quiet, but The Naturalist KNOWS ALL...
