Hart Prairie Preserve Volunteer Work Weekends

If you want to volunteer on a one-time basis, or without committing to more training and schedules, here are some one-time workdays at Hart Prairie, spread from May through October. You can get an early spring look at the Hart Prairie habitat.

From The Nature Conservancy Web Page:

"Come enjoy the beautiful San Francisco Peaks while contributing your skills, talents, and hard work! Volunteers have the option of staying in one of our cabins free of charge (space permitting), camping in the nearby Coconino National Forest, or joining us for a day. Tasks for the May weekend include fuels removal (fire protection) around cabins, construction and cleaning of bird and bat houses, vegetation monitoring, and more."
--Registration is required for lodging, and appreciated for day work. --There is a $20 fee for food and supplies.

--Other 2005 Work Days:
May 20-22
July 22-24
October TBA

The Nature Conservancy has made arrangement with Volunteers for Outdoor Arizona (VoAZ) to have a work weekend 28-31 May, with the task of replacing the north boundary fence with a wildlife friendly (smooth wire) fence.
Note that for VoAZ, this is a top-draw, possibly their most popular event.
Per their web page:

"This event alone is worthy joining VOAz and it could well fill with members."

Don't take your proximity to the Peaks for granted.
