New Wolf–Bluebird Hybrid Reported in Arizona

Congressman Perceptive (R-NM) declares hybrid is “…vivid proof of wolf reintroduction’s failure.”
Arizona Master Naturalists first made public the reported sightings of a what appears to be a hybrid of a Mexican Grey Wolf and a Mountain Bluebird in a session of the National Master Naturalist Conference in Estes Park, CO.
Sightings were said to have been this April in an undisclosed location in the White Mountains of Arizona. “We had a very wet spring this year. Lots of species that we haven’t seen in a long time are popping up all over, but this beats all.” said naturalist Baldo Leopold. Leopold reported seeing the odd creatures “wolfing down Juniper berries.”
Local ranchers have already complained. Fourth-generation grazing leasee Ernie Titlement asked, “who’s gonna compensate me if Gin prices go up?” When reminded that he’d been paid thousands to eradicate Juniper’s, Mr Titlement paused before replying, “Oh…Well, they’re my Junipers. I can do what I want with’em.”
Visibly upset Audubon member and writer Bushnell Pileate was saying that, if verified, this could change the hobby of bird watching into an extreme sport. “I hate to think what may happen when they switch to their summer diet. I doubt they will be satisfied with grasshoppers.”
A spokesperson for Congressman Perceptive read from a scripted statement that said “The evidence of wolf hybrids is just one more piece of evidence that the Mexican Wolf Recovery Program has failed.” On the script, the phrases “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Three Little Pigs” were clearly lined through, and “wolf hybrids” written in above them.
Implications for evolutionary studies could be enormous. Feature editors of the magazine “Annals of Improbable Research” were saying that this could be the biggest discovery since the Tyrannosaurus rex “Barny the Dinosaur” was discovered to have a primate skeletal structure.
