Hart Prairie Work Day 8 Oct 05

In the main lodge, Master Naturalist and TNC employee Ron Bauman briefs vols and team leaders on workday assignments. At far right is another Master Naturalist, Lee Lansing.
Several AZ Master Naturalists participated in the autumn work day at Hart Prairie Nature Preserve on 8 and 9 October, during a day of blustery and changeable weather. Master Naturalists helped organize the event, and led or instructed most of the teams in their chores. The Nature Conservancy were excellent hosts, as always, providing a hot breakfast, roaring fire, and refreshments all day to participants. By mid-afternoon, a cold rain was falling.

The Flagstaff Youth Volunteer Corps also brought a team. They focused on a weed management task, in its second year, to control flannel mullein on Fern Mountain, designated a Special Biological Preserve by the Coconino National Forest. As you can see from photos, the hillsides involved are far from level.
