Understanding Arizona Riparian Areas Workshop

A riparian area workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 28th, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Federated Community Church in Flagstaff. This workshop is intended to give participants a basic understanding of how riparian areas in Arizona function. Master Naturalists/Watershed Stewards can fulfill their entire yearly quoto of 6 CEU's by attending this workshop.

Topics to be covered include: History & Definition of Fiparian Areas: Characterization of Riparian Areas: Fluvial, Hydrological, Biological, and Climatic Processes in Riparian Areas: and Human Alterations. Speakers include riparian, watershed and hydrology specialists from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, USDA Agricultural Research Service, and Arizona State University.

To register, please contact the Coconino County Cooperative Extension office at 774-1868, or email Meg Leander at mleander at mleander@ag.arizona.edu. A workshop fee of $12 includes lunch and handouts. The registration deadline is February 24th.
