Connections: People and Environment, Discovering Arizona's Transitional Zones

AAEELogo2.gif

The Arizona Association for Environmental Education invites you to spend the weekend in Verde Valley’s mild climate among the juniper-mesquite woodland below the Mogollon Rim. Opportunities for interacting with professional scientists and other experts on a wide variety of fascinating, cross-curricular subjects will be offered. You’ll also get to network with other AAEE members and their guests.

Numerous workshops, field trips and discussions about a broad array of subjects including archeology, water resources, geology, ethnobotany, bird watching, and more will be held on Saturday, May 6th. Each tour or workshop will include hands-on activities and will incorporate AZ academic standards. Details of these activities are coming soon. The day will include lunch and a "Schmooze or Lose" dinner. For those who wish to camp, a limited number of campsites have been reserved at Dead Horse State Park on Friday and Saturday nights.

Place: Montezuma's Well - Montezuma Castle National Monument

Date: Saturday May 6th, 2006 - 8 am to 7 pm

Friday May 5th: Optional Campout at Dead Horse State Park. Camping will be available free of charge to registered attendees. Join us for an informal campfire and fun.

Sunday May 7th: Optional Tours. Click here for a description of the tours. Most of these are not usually offered to the public and offer a great opportunity for educators to get to know Arizona more intimately. Please sign up for these tours when registering or call Erin Morris at (602) 266-4417. Go to: http://www.arizonaee.org/events/conference.html to register for this event.
