A mystery bird has been making multiple appearances, just as it did a year ago when first reported on this website. (Click here to see New Species Reported, 13 Nov 2005.)
With regular sighting reports in hand, it has been observed that this avian species, speculated to be a member of the family Phasianidae, is a migrant whose timing is almost as precise as the famous swallows of San Juan Capistrano. There is a major difference, though, since it does not appear to be driven by imminent breeding ,although we don't know for sure. What seems certain is that they will disappear soon, as completely as before their arrival. Where they go is unknown. No photos are available, but a color drawing has been obtained, one of hundreds offered to us for this article.
Calls to the National Audubon Society have not been returned.
