Emergency News Bulletin- Weeding Event at Grand Canyon Trust Office

An important opportunity this Wednesday, June 27, to help keep weed seed from soon-to-bloom Scotch thistles from blowing onto adjacent lands from a vacant city owned lot next to Grand Canyon Trust.

At 1 p.m. on Wed,, June 27 a weed crew led by Rich Moore (Grand Canyon Trust),Kari Malin (Grand Canyon Trust volunteer manager) and Jim Wheeler (Flagstaff Fire Dept.) will begin de-heading and bagging thistles on the open field adjacent to Grand Canyon Trust. This property recently was purchased by the City for a new fire station. We are very grateful to the Fire Dept and to Grand Canyon Trust for responding to our concern.

Questions about Wednesday's work project can be directed to Kari at 774-7488. Drinking water will be provided. Volunteers who respond should wear sun screen and protective clothing. If they have tough gloves and/or pruning scissors, those might be good to bring along in case there's a shortage of supply.

Thanks very much!
