Dear Master Naturalists, Master Watershed Stewards -
On Saturday, August 11th, we will have our second and final Wildlife Volunteer Day on Diablo Trust of the summer.
The first one, on Saturday, July 21st, saw about 20 volunteers working together with Forest Service and Game & Fish employees remove a few miles of old fencing on Cow Lake. It was a great success (see photo below) but most of those volunteers drove all the way from Phoenix to lend a hand!
It was, shockingly, a very poor showing for Flagstaff area volunteers, and so we are calling on you to help us properly represent on August 11th! It should be a fun day, on a beautiful piece of country, and we are going to focus on removing fences that are no longer needed.
Volunteers are asked to dress appropriately by wearing long pants, long sleeved shirts, gloves and appropriate footwear.
Please meet at the Mormon Lake Ranger Station, 4373 South Lake Mary Road, Flagstaff at 0800 am the morning of August 11th. The project is expected to last approximately 4-5 hours, and volunteers should bring enough food and water for the day, and a set of heavy pliers if you have them.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at info@diablotrust.org or by calling 928.523.0588.
Thanks for your support.
Best,
Derrick Widmark
