Olivia White Hospice Garden Project

Beautiful fall color on the low growing 3-leaf sumac. Photo by Loni Shapiro.

This week we were in the garden on Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday some of our regular crew continued with fall clean-up and we held our end of the season potluck. In addition to many wonderful dishes we ate the last of our tomato crop and harvested potatoes. David Hockman worked on fencing our aspen after a loss last week due to deer damage. Elsie Ellis cleaned and refilled some of the plastic birdbaths and the granite birdbaths were put away for the season. Nancy Palmer and Marcia Lamkin worked on cleaning up the Faerie Garden and I did a few emitters and emptied some annual pots.
On Saturday, we had a crew from the Youth Corp and they accompished much in 2 hours. They planted bulbs (tulips, crocus, squill, daffodils and hyacinth), cleaned annual pots and the shed, and moved a large pile of compost out of the area of the new Native Garden walkway.

Thank you this week to:
Nancy Palmer and Marcia Lamkin or their continuing work in the Faerie Garden.
Marcia Lamkin for helping supervise the Youth Corp on Saturday.
Joanie Abbott and her crew for continuing work on the drip system for the south garden.
David Hockman for fencing our aspen trees
Elsie Ellis for her care of the bird baths and cleaning walkways

Plans for 10/25/07 - 9am-12pm:
Clean up the Faerie Garden (post drip installation)
Repair sand and edging along Rose Garden walkway (post drip installation)

This will continue for the next several weeks if you want to learn how to do this it is a
good opportunity to practice.
