Olivia White Hospice Home Garden Project
This week on Thursday many of our regular crew came even though the jobs were difficult in the continuing heat. Vicki Goodwin, Sara Clancy, Chrys Wells and me all worked on weeding a large bed filled with ragweed, clover and bind weed. The front of the home is looking better. Linda Guarino worked on planting in the Inferno Strips and added drip lines to new plants. Karen Kent, David Hockman and Gus Delgadillo all worked on moving the last of our compost pile into the beds. Elsie Ellis watered the back gardens and Gus filled the bird feeders and baths. Joe Harte continues to water as needed in Norm Erickson's absence.
We have AmeriCorp coming on July 24th and we have several jobs they can help with. We need to build a ramp to get to our compost pile with a wheelbarrow. The brick pathway around the home needs to be finished and we need to scavange some rocks from the property for a rock garden. Depending on how many come we also have weeding and general clean-up.
New plants
Pine Penstemon red, creeping germander, little bluestem, wine cups, yellow daisy, creeping phlox pink, sulfer buckwheat
New blooms:
White Plains penstemon, Shasta daisy, daylilies, sticky geraniums, butterfly weed, more roses

Our plans include watering east gardens, cleaning bird baths and feeders, weeding the beds in front of the house (Norm Erickson's beds), getting ready for AmeriCorp on the 24th of July. Park in the 1st Congregational Church lot on Turquoise just past Switzer Canyon Drive. Bring a hat, gloves and any tools you prefer (we do have both) and sun screen (it should be hot).
