Arboretum Docent Training

The Arboretum at Flagstaff is seeking docents for 2009. Share your passion for nature by volunteering at The Arboretum.

The Arboretum at Flagstaff is looking for members of the community who have a deep love of the land and fascination with nature to volunteer at The Arboretum for the upcoming year. Docents lead visitors on daily tours of the gardens at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. every day from April through October. Training begins with an Introductory Session on Tuesday, January 27 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you are interested in learning about native plants and the local ecosystem, classes will be offered on Tuesday afternoons in February, March, and April that will prepare you to share information about the natural history of the Colorado Plateau with visitors.

A full description of the docent program is available on The Arboretum's website, www.thearb.org. Call Rachel Edelstein to register for the training program, (928) 774-1442 ex. 110.

The Arboretum is a 200-acre botanical garden, research center, and nature preserve dedicated to educating the public about the plants and plant communities of the Colorado Plateau. It is located four miles south of Route 66 on scenic Woody Mountain Road in West Flagstaff.
