Olivia White Hospice Garden Project 2009
The first planning meeting for the Olivia White Gardens was held on Thursday 1/8. Following tasting champagne with hibiscus flowers, breakfast, and sharing holiday and snow stories, we started our meeting. On the agenda was a review of last years accomplishment, general updates, and planning for 2009.
Plans include:
In addition to general clean-up, weeding, watering and planting:
-Create houseplants for each room (10)
-Add drip lines to front gardens and make needed spring repairs on other irrigation
-Work on redesign of front gardens (Norm's) for less weeding and watering
-Create rock garden
-Plant Moon Garden
-Thin lamb's ear and germander throughout gardens
-Improve Shasta Daisy growth with supports
-Improve climber care and plantings around gazebo particularly near rock garden
-Add more plantings to parking lot/rose garden walkway
-Continue work on Native Garden
-Work on getting greenhouse ready for use in spring of 2010 (floor and shelving)
-Improve educational materials for Tea & Faerie Gardens (mailbox ?)
-Finish "Scavenger Hunt" materials for children
-Set up educational sign for residents - chalkboard on sturdy stand/back porch
New blooms/plants, visiting birds/animals, rain gauge figures, available food to pick
-Host a Warner's 10% Day/Saturday in July
-Enter County Fair ?
-Early fall harvest open house/tours in garden with food provided by gardeners
