On Saturday, July 11, 900am - Riordan Mansion State Historic Park Butterfly Garden.
Seven years ago the garden club received a Petals Grant from Shell Oil Company, and worked with children from Marshall Elementary to grow butterfly plants as a classroom project. After the garden club installed the necessary hardscape at Riordan Mansion State Park, the children and gardeners worked together to plant the butterfly-attracting plants.
On July 11, they will be refreshing the butterfly garden at Riordan Mansion. All you need to bring is your garden gloves, toos, and a couple hours of your time. FFGC will provide the rest.
The butterfly garden at Riordan Mansion is a spin-off of a larger project undertaken by the AZ Federation of Garden Clubs (AFGC). Federated garden clubs from around the state worked to convince the state legislature to officially recognize the Two-ooTailed Swallow Tail as the AZ State Butterfly!
