FREE campus computer training available
Technology passing you by? There’s no need for that to happen at the UA.
The University offers free computer training via the Web to all instructors, students and employees. UA CBT (computer-based training) provides access to over 240 tutorials, covering a broad range of topics and applications.
Most tutorials are between five and 15 hours long and are divided into lessons lasting between two to 10 minutes. The tutorials are available 24/7.
It’s a QuickTime
Each lesson is a QuickTime movie (.mov file) that opens in a new browser window. You may have to adjust your QuickTime settings to enable Flash to run within a QuickTime window. Learners may work in a software application while watching the lesson and may stop, start, rewind and review as often as desired.
Certification
UA CBT tutorials may be used to prepare for a certification exam but don’t provide assessment or testing functions. Viewing the tutorials doesn’t guarantee certification.
Reports
Each user may view and print a report of the lessons that have been viewed.
CDs
The UA has contracted with the Virtual Training Center (VTC) for the tutorials. CDs of each tutorial may be purchased directly from VTC, with UA NetID holders getting a 50 percent discount.
UA CBT is a project of the Learning Technologies Center and the Office of Student Computing
Resources.
