OSCR has laptops ready to lend for your department or group

Office of Student Computing Resources (OSCR) now has a pool of 20 laptops that may be checked out by colleges, departments or officially recognized student groups for use with any UA-related activities for a period of three to 30 days.

Laptop Loaner

Laptops are free of charge when used for events that do not charge registration or admission fees and do not require special configurations. If there is a charge to participants of the event, the department or organization will be asked to pay a laptop use fee of $20 per day.

Laptops come configured with Windows XP Professional and loaded with Microsoft Office 2007. Additional software and configuration changes may be available by request, but there might be a cost associated with any complex or labor-intensive reconfiguration. OSCR’s Faculty Liaison (Kate Rehkopf) would be happy to provide an estimate for any special requests.

Reserved laptops can be picked up in the OSCR Underground (ILC 136) or OSCR will deliver and pickup the laptops from users at a cost of $50 for on-campus locations and $100 for any off-campus location within Tucson city limits.

Laptop fees must be paid to OSCR at least three days prior to the scheduled pickup/delivery. If a department or organization wishes to cancel an order they must submit a cancellation request no later than three days prior to pickup/delivery. Reservations not canceled on time will still be responsible for paying the complete cost associated with the order.

Laptops at La Paz

Six brand new laptops are also available to students using the La Paz OSCR lab. The laptops were donated by Gateway Computers and have been configured with Microsoft Office 2007 and Adobe Creative Suite 3 software running on the Vista operating system. Students can checkout laptops using their CatCard and by signing a waiver agreeing not to remove the laptops from the lab and that they assume financial responsibility for any loss or damage. Laptops will run off battery power only, but students are free to trade a laptop running low on power for one fully charged.

OSCR wishes to thank Gateway for their very generous donation of the La Paz Loaner Laptops!
