A Fair(y) Use Tale is a "humorous, yet informative, review of copyright principles delivered through the words of the very folks we can thank for nearly endless copyright terms."
Who might those folks be? Why, none other than the Mouse's owners. A several years ago I had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Lawrence Lessig and one of his points was how Disney has made its fortune many times over by taking the creative ideas other and making them its own. That even goes back to the original Mickey, Steamboat Willie. From the Wikipedia article on Steamboat Willie: "the title is a parody of the Buster Keaton film Steamboat Bill Jr." Now think about all the animated cartoons and features Disney has produced.
Do take a little time to watch A Fair(y) Use Tale. If you teach, and your course at all touches on Fair Use and copyright, I think you'll find this is an excellent resource for students. Certainly ought to be a great stepping off point for discussing some of the issues.
